Course Title Wireless Technologies: A Comparative Study
Aimed At

This course is aimed at senior engineers, managers, business strategists and others who need to benchmark their network against their competitor’s, choose the best technology for a given context, make technology migration/upgrade decisions, or whose jobs simply require an overarching view of the major technologies of the day.

The standard presentation of this course assumes a bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience. However, the course can be tailored to those with other backgrounds and interests.

Prerequisites
  • Knowledge of the wireless network structure and operation, RF propagation and fading issues, and link budget analysis.
  • At least two years experience in the design and optimization of a wireless network using any major technology.
Course in a Nutshell

While there’s a lot in common between today’s wireless technologies, there are also some significant differences. It’s easy to forget that the “devil is in the details”.  Comparing these technologies to each other and understanding each technology’s strengths and weaknesses is the agenda of this course.

After a brief review of each technology of interest to the audience, we will undertake a systematic study of the major problems of mobile communications to understand how they have been solved in each of the technologies under study. This will help you develop some common benchmarks for understanding, comparing, and evaluating all of the major technologies in use today. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to determine the suitability of a technology for a particular environment including the strengths that can be leveraged and weaknesses that can be costly if not dealt with early in the process. This will help you make sound technical and business decisions.

Customize It!

Customize this course to your specific requirements at little-to-no additional cost, whether they involve benchmarking your network against your competitor’s, choosing the right technology for a particular application, or simply acquiring a broad overview of the major wireless technologies of the day. Tell us the technologies you’re interested in, the reason you wish to study them, how technical you are, and we’ll tailor a course to respond to your distinct needs.
