GSM, GPRS, EDGE (EGPRS) Training
This wireless training curriculum, focused on the important GSM family of technologies, includes courses, tutorials, and workshops on GSM, the dominant 2G wireless technology, as well as GPRS and EDGE (or EGPRS), the 2.5G/2.75G enhancements that enable packet switching in the mobile communications environment. It also includes courses on technologies, such as CAMEL, IMS, and VoIP that enable operators to enhance their networks with value-added services. The technical content, style, and emphasis of any course (for example, business versus technical) can be tailored to the needs of a particular audience, whether RF or core network engineers, hardware or software engineers, equipment or application developers, technicians, managers, or non-technical professionals in related fields.
Course progression: Because each member of this technology family builds on the one that preceded it, the GSM, GPRS, and EDGE (EGPRS) courses should be taken in the order indicated above. The CAMEL course requires a good working knowledge of the technologies CAMEL builds on, namely GSM, GPRS, and UMTS. Similarly, the IMS and VoIP courses assume some IP background.
Integrated GPRS/EDGE classes: Given the close interrelationships between GPRS and EDGE (EGPRS), we offer a longer, integrated treatment of these subjects as well.
Integrated GSM/GPRS/UMTS/CAMEL classes: Again, given the close relationship between GSM, GPRS, UMTS, and CAMEL, we offer a course that provides an integrated look at all of these technologies.
Wireless foundations: This curriculum builds on the foundations laid in our Wireless and Core Network Engineering curricula (please see those pages for course details). Less experienced engineers should consider taking relevant courses from those curricula before taking the GSM family courses.
